Lake Norman

Lake Norman began being developed in the late 1950’s and was completed in 1964. It is North Carolina’s LARGEST man-made lake with over 520 miles of shoreline. In fact, sometimes it is referred to as an ‘inland sea’.

This massive lake falls within four different counties (Catawba, Iredell, Lincoln, and Mecklenburg) and ten different cities, all with their own character. Some of the larger cities include: Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Denver, Sherrills Ford, Troutman, and Terrell.

Lake Wylie

Lake Wylie is a manmade lake that sits on the border between North and South Carolina. The lake covers around 13,400 acres and has approximately 325 miles of shoreline and an average depth of around 20 feet.

Cities bordering Lake Wylie include, “Lake Wylie”, Tega Cay, Charlotte, and India Hook but it is also in very close proximity to Rock Hill and Fort Mill. Its shoreline falls into three counties: York, Mecklenburg, and Gaston.
